Next week July 27-29 is the last of playgroup for the term. We are planning a Movie inspired theme as the winter weather is now upon us.
For all the Tuesday mums we will be having a party for Ashton so expect cake for the kids.

We had a great day today with the Curtin Nutrition Programme that the Tuesday girls are particpating in with a bellydancing session for the kids. They absolutely loved it dancing with scarves and colourful hula hoops!

REMEMBER .... with children

you can't reason them out of a tantrum, so arguing and explaining in the heat of the moment is wasted energy.
Children have varying tolerances for different kinds of stimulation. You first child may have loved being out every day, but your second may need a bit more down time to maintain energy levels.
When the tank is nearing empty, children can be overwhelmed by the offer of too many choices. There are times when it is kinder for Mum or Dad to call the shots until the little one is fed and rested.

..... with adults

A parent who is comfortable and confident to say no from time to time will have a child who can tolerate being denied occasionally. If we are afraid to be the bad guy, our children should be forgiven for thinking being told 'no' is pretty disastrous.
Most tantrums fizzle and die without an audience. Leaving the room and shutting the door (as long as your child is safe) is an effective way of timing yourself out and getting some space while they calm down.

Kids Alive commences May 4 for Term 2

HI everyone remember that Kids Alive does not start again until May 4,5, and 6 to give all the mums with school age children a chance o settle back for the week.
Our first week back will have a mothers day flavour and for all of you that would like to ask your mum along for the morning to have a cuppa and play with their grandkiddies we would love to have them along for the morning.

We are currently putting together a great set of activities for the term and we are currently organising a visit for a morning with the farm animals which is always a great delight.

Remember to ask your friends and there will be flyers available to give out to your friends and neighbours as we look to fill up Monday and Wednesday sessions.

Please bring your children prepared to get wet and ideally in sun smart gear for outdoor play. Also bring a towel to dry down and a piece of fruit to share.

Last Kid's alive for the year and Santa is coming

We have had an amazing year and are looking forward to finishing of next week with Santa paying us a visit. Can all the parents and grandmas bring a plate of food to share for the children? Bring your camera for a photo opportunity with Santa, he will be arriving at 10-30am and have a gift for every child!!

A reminder that Kid's Alive will be in recess for the whole school holiday season and will re-commence the second week of the school term in 2009. Sessions will be Monday to Wednesday 10-00am to 12-00.

For those interested in a Christmas Service, Encounter Church will be having a Christmas Carol Service at Whiteman Park at 10-00am on Sunday 21st December in the Mussel Pool area. You are all welcome, the bouncy castle will be there for the children and it will be a relaxed morning for all.

A Christmas Day Service will be held at 9am at the Encounter Wangara building.

A big thank-you to all the willing volunteers that have made the year such an awesome one. Thank-you to Annette and Ros for their help each week and thank-you to Sharon who is the heart of Kid's Alive!

Bubblemania and welcome baby Mia

The first week in December!!!! I know we have chatted a little in the Tuesday group as we prepare to finish up for the year in just a few weeks, it is amazing. For this week we will be having a bubble day. The kids certainly do love the bubbles and hopefully we will have our resident bubble blower extraordinaire along for at least one session. Next week will see us welcome back Sharon to Wednesday after a well deserved break.

We also welcome little baby Mia who had her very first session of Kid's Alive on Tuesday at 11 days old, an absolute cutey. Well done Stacy & Matt!

Fun In The Sand

Welcome back to a new term of Kid's Alive. We are kicking the term off with a fun filled morning of making sand castles and digging in dirt. For the mums the sand will be washed playground sand that will be suitable for the children but please bring them dressed to get dirty!

Once again we will be having a mums coffee day mid way through the term as a chance to get together and have a chat over great cake and coffee, so stay tuned for more.

Santa will also be making a guest appearance later in the term so we look forward to seeing him.

Coffee and Chat

We will be meeting for a casual cuppa and chat at Waldecks Garden Cafe on a Saturday afternoon in a few weeks time hopefully on August 23 at 2pm. Plan to be there for a bit of a relaxation. It is planned to to one get together each term where you can meet one another and encourage one another. At the moment we have two expectant mums in our midst so we can give them a chance to put their feet up for an hour or two as well.

What a great first week back forn term was had with our clown theme day. Welcome to all our first time parents and children along, we hope you had a great time.

We are having a party! If your child has had a birthday this past term we want to celebrate it with you. Bring a small gift for them and we will have party games and ice-cream cake. It is a day that is a lot of fun and that we do each term so that all children have an opportunity to have happy birthday sung to them.
